Sometimes self-help material can be a bit drab and have no sense of humour. I’ve listened to LOTS of material and, well, it can be very dull and unimaginative. This blog-post will shake that up a bit.
Our minds are often comparing similar things. This starts very early on. We quickly learn the difference between a dog and a cat despite their similarities. Whilst out on a walk the other day a random thought floated into my mind. A brain looked a bit like a walnut. A walnut looks a bit like a pair of buttocks in that it has two halves. Therefore, a brain also looks a bit like a pair of buttocks if you stretch the idea a bit
I started exploring the similarities and differences between my brain and a pair of buttocks. I could clench my buttocks, but I couldn’t clench the two hemispheres of my brain.
Now, whenever a sentence starts with “I can’t do bla-bla-bla” I immediately think “What would it feel like if you COULD?”. This was an intriguing concept indeed, and the start of an idea for a hypnotic induction – quite an unusual one too!
I realised that this could be a fun way to design a self-hypnosis/visualisation which could turn out to be the catalyst for some profound changes. At the very least it is a fun way to relax, but if there are issues of your own which you are trying to resolve, you could insert your wishes into the hypnosis session making it uniquely yours.
Have a listen to the accompanying MP3 here. It is designed to be a lighthearted bit of fun which you may resonate with if you approach it with a playful frame of mind and a lot of open-minded imagination. It is a routine which you can do on your own at anytime.
Before running the track, have something in mind which you’d like to do/have/achieve. This could be simply getting rid of a headache or feeling more confident. You could even use it to help get back to sleep – just ‘pour in some liquid sleep’. (You’ll know what I mean once you’ve used the track.)
This track is taken from the Pre-Gig Pep-Talk Online Course for musicians. There is a lot of more serious content there including hypnosis for many issues from Stage-Fright to Creativity and from Sight Reading to Pitch and tuning awareness. Check out the link to the course and contact me for the latest special discounts before you enrol. As a reader of this blog, I wouldn’t dream of charging you anywhere near full price 🙂
Enjoy.
